Office Watercoolers Carbon Offset Program

By Ann Vickery

Last year we saved 205 tonnes of CO2 by participating in the Carbon Clear project.

Our carbon credits are independently verified, unlike many other self-verified credits and are also approved by the United Nations.

We participate in the Rice Husk Cogeneration project in India, details of which can be found here:

The project uses rice husks to provide heat and electricity to a textile mill in India. The use of biomass for power eliminates reliance on fossil fuels, while providing additional income to local farmers. This project was the first of its kind in India's Punjab region.

The project provides added income to local farmers from the sale of their rice husks, which would otherwise be burnt in the field. Local elected representatives were included in the stakeholder consultation process and expressed strong support for the project. The textile plant's environmental management system is ISO 14001 certified, and the plant meets or exceeds local environmental requirements. Precipitators have been installed to capture dust, smokestack collectors capture fly ash, silencers reduce noise pollution, and a cooling water system has been employed to minimise thermal water pollution.

Please see the PDF documents below for further information on our Carbon Offset program.
