The Rainforest Alliance Pt 1: A Seal of Universal Approval

“Many businesses claim their products are sustainable, but how do consumers really know? Increasingly, they are demanding an independent, third-party seal of approval. Distinguish your goods and services through the Rainforest Alliance's family of marks.”

So goes the introduction to certification, verification and validation on the Rainforest Alliance’s website. It is a source of great pride that we sport the Rainforest Alliance Certified Frog at the bottom of our website. The ubiquitous frog logo bestow not only status on the goods and products which it adorns, but is a genuinely independent verification of a business’s practices and products from one of the most respected NGO’s in the world.

The frog logo is “recognized by consumers around the world as the symbol of environmental, social and economic sustainability” but what does this actually mean when it comes to Office Beverages. Well, it means our products are sourced from sustainable and responsibly managed sources. The certification is built upon three pillars of sustainability; environmental protection, social equity and economic viability.

The farms that the Rainforest Alliance has awarded certification to have met rigorous standards set by the Sustainable Agriculture Network, one of the very first grouping of NGO’s pushing for responsible and sustainable farming throughout the world.

To be able to use the iconic Rainforest Alliance frog logo means that we have fulfilled the following criteria:

  • Signed a licence agreement with the Rainforest Alliance
  • Registered in the online Rainforest Alliance Certified Marketplace
  • Comply with the Rainforest Alliance’s traceability requirements
  • Comply with the Use of Seal Guidelines


The Rainforest Alliance is an incredible organisation that works with farmers and conservation groups all over the world as well as businesses of all shapes and sizes as it strives to fight climate change and eradicate poverty. No small task.
