The London Coffee Festival

By Joe Cox

This weekend saw the London Coffee Festival hit the streets of East London packing out the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. And yours truly was there to experience all those lovely aromas and taste all that lovely coffee (it’s a hard job but someone’s got to do it).

The Truman Brewery was an expansive setting and we (my brother, a Shoreditch resident and keen coffee lover, and I) took our time exploring the various zones and stalls, set out over four or five huge rooms. Many of the big companies were present such as Costa, Lavazza and Brita Water. As we strolled around we were offered lots of free coffee and despite trying to pace ourselves, were fairly wide eyed and buzzing on a caffeine high after a few hours sampling all this amazing coffee.

Some really interesting things on show, like as coffee in a teabag and an ingenious type of premium instant coffee which is actually brewed inside the bag by pouring hot water in it and releasing the coffee into your cup via a clever zip pocket system.

Anyway, I thought I’d put up some pictures so you can get a little sample of the day’s events for yourself.
